SSI association concern over panel's terms of reference

SIMA seeks package for textile industry revival
THE Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA), one of the largest organisations representing the textile industry in the country, has sought a rehabilitation package to help out the beleaguered textile industry - the largest source of employment and the b iggest contributor to the Central and State Government kitties.

Textile exports up 23.7 pc in April-May
FOLLOWING three years of a tepid single-digit export growth, textile exports during the first two months of the current fiscal logged a robust 23.7 per cent growth at $2,008.1 millions as compared to $1,623.8 million in April-May 1999-2000, kindling hope that this year's identified target of $13 billions for the textile sector alone would not be a tall order.
