Fast track
Results revive GE Shipping
AS expected, the latest figures show that growth in industrial production has slowed down significantly during May 2000 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. For the first two months of this fiscal, the index of industrial production registered a growth of 5.60 per cent compared to the figure of 6.20 per cent for the corresponding previous period.

Impact
Bhushan Steels: Project overhang looms
THE approval accorded to Bhushan Steels to set up a steel plant in Bellary may not have any positive influence on the valuation of the stock.

TELCO: Flat trends in prospect
THE sharp decline in the sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles by Tata Engineering (TELCO) may lead to a continuation of the weak trends in the stock price.

HDFC Bank: Furthering the IT image
HDFC Bank's move to set up a joint venture company to offer banking solutions on tap may be viewed favourably as part of its continued thrust to embrace technology in its operations.

Stocks
Market tumbles after a firm start
THE stock market trading was distinctly volatile during Thursday's trading with the Sensex recording an intra-day range of about 181 points. Buoyed by the sharp overnight gain on the Nasdaq market, the BSE Sensex opened on a firm note and went on to touc h a high of 5058.90 points.

Technical Analysis
Bears take over
DESPITE the bears dominating the market on Thursday, the uptrends in both the indices remained intact. Sentiment was strongly bullish inspite of bear domination. In case of a bear move on Friday, the downtrend may be triggered in both the indices. In cas e of a bull move, sentiment is likely to remain the same while it may turn bearish in case of a bear move.
