Construction portal set up
Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, July 16
GULF Total Internet Solutions (GTIS), an Internet solutions company based in Dubai Internet City, has set up GulfBuildings.com, a one-stop-shop portal site which will cater to the construction industry in West Asia.
Initiated by KTTS, a Kerala-based IT company and powered by technology from the Technopark-based Internet solutions provider IVL India, this construction industry vortal is the first in West Asia, according to Mr. Lalu Varghese, Director, GTIS. It will c
ater to all the construction related needs of the industry, products and services, he told newspersons here.
Seamlessly scalable, the portal will be equipped to host e-commerce transactions, supply chain management and e-procurement functionalities in due course. The portal boasts many listings of suppliers, products and service providers. It uses the latest te
chnologies and is hosted on a US-based server.
The construction industry in West Asia, a region which has been relatively slow to open up to the networked world, has been conservatively estimated to be worth $60 billions. According to Mr. Varghese, the region is now witnessing a second boom in the co
nstruction and real estate deals and it is this space that his venture aims to address. The launch of the portal has been timed to make the most of an ongoing rush to get connected to the Net.
GulfBuildings.com seeks to bring together industry people such as consulting engineers, developers, realtors, contractors, interior designers and trade consultants on a single platform. The portal will feature an exclusive chat room where ideas can be sh
ared; yet another facility will match suppliers and buyers across West Asia.
Among others, it features the GB Market for displaying products and wares, the GB ProjectShelf which lists major international projects that are on stream in the region, GB Classifieds, GB Rentals and GB Appointments. The GB Expert will parade a panel of
experts who will provide answers to technical questions relating to the field. The portal will also have an auction facility.
