Zee Interactive to launch 24-hour learning channel

HYDERABAD, Aug. 10
ZEE Interactive Learning Systems Ltd (ZILS), a subsidiary of Zee Telefilms, is set to launch the country's first 24-hour learning channel - Zed-TV - later this month along with zeelearn.com, an education portal and Zee Livewire, its virtual classroom.
The Chief Executive Officer of Zee Learning, Mrs. Uma Ganesh, speaking at a press conference here, said that the channel had been conceptualised targeting various sections of society and blends learning with entertainment, new technologies and informatio
n.
ZILS has developed zeelearn.com and Zee Livewire, a satellite-based education programme leveraging on multi-media approach, through cable and Internet access.
Zee Livewire will facilitate live, interactive teaching through VSATs. The first such VSAT-based learning centre is proposed to be commissioned in Hyderabad. It plans to develop 50 such centres in the country; of this, seven are expected to be located in
Andhra Pradesh.
The interactive training integrates the power and capability of television, Internet and interactive learning. Zeelearn.com proposes to reach out its initiatives through ZED career academies and Zed points. ZILS plans to use its learning centres to prov
ide localised training programmes as well.
The company plans a total investment of Rs. 100 crores for its `learning through entertainment' initiative in its first year of operation.
ZILS has created what it calls a `Level-4 advantage' in its learning methodology developed for Zed career academies.
