Vigorous in most regions
The South-West monsoon continues to be on the revival mode, with most parts of the country, barring West Rajasthan and the Saurashtra-Kutch region, receiving reasonably good precipitation over the last 24 hours.
The monsoon was particularly vigorous in Andhra Pradesh (coastal as well as Rayalaseema and Telengana regions), western Uttar Pradesh hills and coastal Karnataka, while being active in Orissa, Vidarbha and Marathwada, Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar plai
ns. Even the soyabean belt of West Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and southern Gujarat received good precipitation.
The groundnut-rich Saurashtra and West Rajasthan are, however, yet to witness any significant monsoon revival, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the well-marked low pressure area over west-central Bay of Bengal will move
further in a north-westerly direction, which would boost rainfall activity in MP and Maharashtra. ``This belt of increased rainfall may also extend to Gujarat and Rajasthan in the next couple of days'', the IMD said. _ Our Bureau
