Ved Webtech develops `talking mail'
Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, Aug. 10
VED Webtech Ltd, a Hyderabad-based software development company focussing on Web applications, in collaboration with Innovative Solution Technologies Inc, has developed `Baba Mail' -- a versatile proprietary intelligent talking e-mail facility.
The Director of Ved Webtech, Mr. Ved Alapati, said that this intelligent talking e-mail enables one to automatically access popular Web-based e-mail accounts including Yahoo mail, Usa.net and Onebox.com in its release version. It is also useful for multi
ple e-mail accounts.
The software, which is to be made available through CDs, can be loaded on to desktops. Through an agent, which is an animated character, it automatically retrieves and announces the arrival of the new mail vocally without one physically going and checkin
g the mails. There is no need for a password.
``The talking mail is like a robot sitting on the computer, which does all your jobs in the background without one's intervention by pulling and segregating all the mails from different accounts in one go,'' Mr. Ved Alapati said.
``It also notifies faxes and voice mails. The advantage is you need not have a telephone line to receive fax since all this is done through Internet.''
The product is to be launched later this month in India for free for the first three months. It will be marketed through CDs as well as offered through downloads.
In the Indian market, the company plans to reach out the product through tie-ups with Internet service providers (ISPs). The product, to be launched soon in the US, is to be priced at $9.99.
``We specialise in retrieval technologies and this has helped us address this important aspect which touches every PC user, Mr. Alapati said.''
``This has been positioned as a one-stop communication system which integrates e-mail, voice mail and fax through a common interface.''
