IRDA invites registration applications

NEW DELHI: The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has decided to throw open the window for inviting applications for registration from private insurance companies from August 16, 2000.

The regulatory authority has said that insurance companies registered in India and who are willing to carry on insurance business in the country, either in life or general insurance, can apply for registration, an IRDA release issued here on Thursday sai d.

IRDA has also advised the applicants to familiarise themselves with the regulations and provisions of the Insurance Act, 1938. Regulations regarding registration of Indian insurers were notified by the Authority on July 19. - Our Bureau
