Nextcell.com to support Wipro's Netcracker.com

HYDERABAD, Sept. 6

NEXTCELL.COM, an m-business portal offering wireless access solutions to the Web from handheld devices such as cell phones and personal data assistants, on Wednesday announced a strategic alliance with Wipro Net Ltd to power the latter's Netcracker.com, India's first mobile ISP with WAP services.

With this arrangement, Nextcell.com is expected to enable Netcracker with WAP services for news, stocks, airlines, restaurants and hotel information for the subscribers of Netcracker.com.

The Chief Executive Officer of Nextcell.com, Mr. K. Ramakrishna, while announcing the alliance, said, ``Nextcell.com enables users of mobile devices to access a variety of information. Our alliance will facilitate a new business revenue model for ISP bus inesses.''

Using Nextcell.com's WAP-enabled services, the subscribers of Netcracker.com will now be able to access information and transactional services such as restaurant and hotel information, stock trading, banking services, directory services, exchange rates, flight schedules and train and bus timetables.

Nextcell facilitates wireless data from anywhere at anytime to anyone regardless of the device they are using, the network they have access to, or the type of information they want.

The portal is designed to speed and simplify the entire process on the mobile devices -- be it information, entertainment or transactional in nature.

The company's solutions are based on a scalable platform and can be deployed with connections to multiple wireless operator SMS and WAP gateways and information providers.

For SMS and WAP services to its customers, Nextcell has entered into strategic agreements with content providers and information service providers.

Nextcell is among the first ASPs (application service providers) offering wireless access to the Web from handheld devices such as cell phones and palm devices.

The information from the Internet, intranet or from a corporate server, is provided by Nextcell which provides information, services and transactions in the B2B sector.
