Russian banking team hold talks

MUMBAI: A high-level Russian banking delegation comprising representatives from the Central Bank of Russia, the Russian Ministries of Finance and Commerce, major Russian banking institutions, including Bank for Foreign and Economic Affairs of USSR (BFEAU ), visited the RBI, New Delhi, last week.

According to a press release, the delegation led by Mr V. N. Smirnov, Managing Director, Russian Central Bank, was attending the meetings of the Indo-Russian sub-group on banking and financial matters.

The forum, which holds consultations and discussions on various banking, financial and payments-related matters connected with trade between India and Russia, was set up in 1997 as part of an inter-governmental arrangement between the two countries, the release said.

The RBI Executive Director, Mr P. R. Gopala Rao, led the Indian delegation and chaired the meetings. The representatives of the Indian Finance and Commerce Ministries participated in the discussions , the release said. _ Our Bureau
