Tax holiday for food processing likely
THE Government is likely to offer a 10-year indirect tax holiday for the food processing industry, the Secretary, Department of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Omesh Saigal, has said.

FOR the International Coffee Organisation (ICO), consumption of coffee is very important. The Head of Operations, International Coffee Organisation (ICO), Mr C.P.R. Dubois, says the main thrust is on increasing consumption.

Tata Coffee cuts prices in Chennai to Rs 99/kg
TATA Coffee has slashed coffee prices in Chennai from Rs 165 to Rs 99 per kg in a bid to increase its market share. ``We are hoping for a 600-per cent increase in consumption,'' said the company's Vice-President (Marketing), Mr Harish Bijoor.

Southern plantations token strike on Dec 11
OVER one million plantation workers in the southern States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala have decided to go on a one-day token strike on December 11 to protest against the Government's `anti-plantation policy'.

CSB, Karnataka to triple bivoltine silk output
THE Central Silk Board and the Karnataka Government have jointly launched a Rs 50.12-crore project to triple bivoltine raw silk production and improve silk quality in the State during the current fiscal. The annual output so far has been 200 tonnes.
