CSE in tie-up talks with Nasdaq
Our Bureau
CALCUTTA, Dec. 5
THE Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) today initiated discussions with the National Association Securities Dealers (Nasdaq) of the US on potential areas of co-operation.
According to Mr Kamal Parekh, President of CSE, the exchange would like to acquaint itself with Nasdaq's trading systems and operations. It would also look at Nasdaq for information on emerging areas like derivatives trading.
CSE has also proposed to co-ordinate with Mr Ghanshyam Dass, Director (South Asia) of Nasdaq, who would be in charge of the organisation's proposed representative office in Bangalore.
Mr Patrick Sutch, V-P and MD (Asia Pacific) of Nasdaq, too, is keen on keeping up the dialogue with CSE and other major stock exchanges in India, including the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange.
He pointed out that Nasdaq had successfully teamed up with stock exchanges elsewhere. In Hong Kong, for instance, it had started a programme with the local bourse to trade select Nasdaq stocks.
