`Canada prefers software, hospitality professionals'
Our Bureau
CALCUTTA, Dec. 5
SOFTWARE engineers and hospitality industry professionals are particularly welcomed as immigrants to Canada, according to Mr Anoo Lal, President of Alliance (AL) Canada Inc, an organisation that offers services to those who wish to immigrate to Canada, A
ustralia and New Zealand.
Mr Lal told newspersons here that 17,000 Indians immigrated to Canada every year. Besides, another 2,500 and 1,800 people immigrated to Australia and New Zealand respectively. Better prospects of career progression, better quality of life, education, hea
lthcare and amenities were among the reasons why people immigrated, he said.
In fact, the growing number of prospective Indian immigrants had prompted Alliance to set up an office in New Delhi. Named Canwest Immigration Services (P) Ltd, the outfit was an approved licensee of the Union Ministry of Labour and offered immigration s
ervices out of 28 locations in India.
Mr Lal pointed out that the quality of immigrants had undergone a sea change over the years. While earlier immigrants comprised basically ``economic immigrants,'' immigrants now were invariably those who possessed ``knowledge-based skills and are fluent
in the English language.''
With a view to dispelling ``myths'' about immigration, Alliance was organising ``educative seminars'' in various cities across the country. ``Immigration services is a serious business that must be conducted in an organised and responsible manner. We at
Alliance and Canwest work on a no-visa-no-fee guarantee. We also provide post-settlement services,'' he observed.
