International IT show begins today

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Dec. 5

INFO-TECH companies will come together to participate at yet another IT show -- IT World 2000/Comdex India -- which kicks off on Wednesday. Taiwan, Australia and the US are the participating countries this year.

In its ninth consecutive year, the organisers of the show, Business India Exhibitions (BIE) and Key3Media, told mediapersons that the event would bring the latest offerings, products and services from both established and emerging companies.

Mr Navin Kriplani, VP with BIE, said that IT companies were experiencing fatigue with too many IT events to participate and there also was the issue of the quality of visitors to the event.

A consolidation is expected over the next two years and participants would take part in more focussed events, he said. However, he added, that people will come to the show for the technology products on offer.

About 150 companies are expected to participate in the event which would also see the participation of Mr Daniel Louppe, Director of Marketing, Internet Communication and Data Centre Group, Intel Corporation, Mr Vanu Bose, CEO, Vanu Inc, and Senator Rich ard Alston, Minister of Communication, IT and the Arts, Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate, Government of Australia.

Companies participating include Intel, Zeenext, Polaris, Net Guru, MTNL, VSNL and Aptech, to mention a handful.

The event is streamlined across three tracks -- e-commerce, convergence and infrastructure and financial services, the centre of technology risk and reward.

And some of the highlights would include Webspot (a display of talent), Job Arena and VC-Clinic -- providing the meeting ground between VCs and entrepreneurs looking for their dream projects to take off.
