Licensing norm relaxed for SEZs, EPZs
Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, Dec. 8
INDUSTRIAL undertakings operating under the 100 per cent export-oriented undertakings scheme, the export processing zone scheme and the Special Economic Zone scheme will no longer be required to obtain industrial licences for manufacturing items reserved
for the small scale sector.
A notification issued by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) said that industrial undertakings operating under the EOU/EPZ/SEZ schemes and engaged in manufacture of one or more items specified in schedule III of the notification issued
by the Ministry of Industry on July 25, 1991 have been exempted from the operations of the provisions of Sections 10, 11, 11A and 13 of the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951.
This decision is expected to facilitate expeditious clearance of proposals for setting up units under SEZ/EPZ/EOU schemes, at the level of development commissioner, under the automatic route, an official release said here on Friday.
