Fighting the `undead' virus

`Catch them young' is a very good motto in the fight against the deadly AIDS virus, which, according to the UNAIDS Programme, is likely to infect 36.1 million people by this year end.

Of these, 5.8 million will be from South-East Asia. Carrying placards that read `Our goal is an AIDS-free nation', these children of Chennai corporation schools are being co-opted in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Till an effective vaccine i s found, education is the best weapon available if the disaster-waiting-to-happen is to be averted.
