FICCI award for Bharat Petroleum

MUMBAI, Dec. 24

BHARAT Petroleum Corporation Ltd has been presented the FICCI award 1999-2000 for `Corporate initiatives in the field of rural developments'.

The oil major has set up primary schools, health clinic, community centres in 27 villages in Karnataka, West Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, a news release said.

The company had been training tribal students through vocational training in carpentry, tailoring, etc., while women were trained in mushroom farming and bee-keeping. The company had also been helping to link villages to State highways, the release said.
