Plea to form Trade, Commerce Ministry

MANGALORE: The District Small Industries Association of Mangalore has asked the State Chief Minister to establish a separate Ministry for Trade and Commerce (Business) to help `business promotion' in the State.

In a letter addressed to Mr S.M. Krishna, the President of the Association, Mr R.D. Kini, has said that the setting up of a `Ministry for Internal Trading' would ensure a 20 per cent increase in Government revenue apart from helping in the `survival' of small-scale industries which, according to the Association, were facing a major threat from foreign goods. -- Our Bureau
