Castorseed spot prices recover

MUMBAI, Jan. 4

CASTORSEED spot prices recovered smartly at the major castorseed markets on Thursday as total arrivals were reported to be lower. Also, fresh export enquiries fuelled the market sentiment, traders said.

Total arrivals in the Gujarat were reported to be lower to around 20,000-25,000 bags, while arrivals at the Hyderabad centre were lower at 4,500-5000 bags compared with previous days' figure of 5000-6,000 bags, traders said.

There was a report that two major Gujarat-based marketing societies had bought about 2,000-2,5000 bags, in the price range of Rs 228-232 per 20 kg, on Thursday, traders said.

At the Ahmedabad market, spot prices improved to Rs 236 per 20 kg from Rs 230-232. At the Bhabhar (Gujarat) market, spot prices rose to Rs 228-232 per 20 kg from Rs 225-226. At the Rajkot market, it recovered marginally to Rs 1,192 a quintal from the pre vious days' figure of Rs 1,190 per quintal, traders said.

At the Hyderabad market, spot prices rose by Rs 10/15 to Rs 1,040 per quintal, traders said.
