NEW DELHI, Jan. 4

THE entire issue of US sanctions on India will be examined afresh in the new Administration under President-elect Mr George W. Bush, according to the US Senator, Mr Arlen Specter.

Speaking at a luncheon meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr Specter said that there was an on going debate on the efficacy of sanctions in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

He added that both the Houses had different opinions on the issue.
