Online commentary on Budget in tax portal

CALCUTTA, Feb. 21
INCOMETAXINFO.COM, the new comprehensive tax portal which answers taxpayers' queries on various aspects of income-tax online, has decided to provide an online commentary on the Union Budget 2001-2002, soon after the proposals are announced by the Union F
inance Minister, Mr Yashwant Sinha, on February 28.
Talking to Business Line, Mr Narayan Jain, director of incometaxinfo.com, said a special feature titled `Budget chat' would also be available on the site, providing answers to questions pertaining to income-tax proposals contained in the Budget and its i
mplications.
He said the queries will be addressed by an expert panel comprising Mr S.C. Mishra, former DG (Investigations) of Income Tax, Government of India, Mr N.M. Ranka, President of the All-India Federation of Tax Practitioners, Mr S.R. Wadhwa and Mr Pesi M. Na
rielwala, former president of ICAI, besides others.
Stating that the tax portal enjoyed a daily average of more than 20,000 hits, he expected close to a million hits on Budget day.
Besides fielding routine questions on income-tax problems, the site provides information on recent court decisions, Government circulars and notifications, besides an exclusive section for NRIs featuring the full text of all double taxation avoidance agr
