N-E business meet today

GUWAHATI, Feb. 21

THE first international conference on `Business Opportunities in North-East-- Guwahati Initiative' will begin on Thursday.

The meet, jointly organised by the Federation of Industries & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI), will be inaugurated by the Assam Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Mr S.K. Sinha.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Union Ministries of Home Affairs and Commerce, North-Eastern Council (NEC) and the State Government. Representatives from several Union Ministries, captains of industry and business leaders, and officials of the nort h-eastern States are expected to participate.

Moreover, business representatives from Bangladesh, Japan, Myanmar, Indonesia and the US would also attend the conference.

The FINER President, Mr S.K. Jain, said the deliberations would be held in three sessions on Friday. The first session would be devoted to investment potential in the North-East and investor concerns. While the second will deal with building external mar ket linkages for entrepreneurs, the third would deliberate on creating corporate success in the region.
