Aluminium: Price outlook bright
Sharp fluctuations in the international prices of aluminium has been the norm in the recent past. Prices of aluminium broke through the $1,600 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange in September 2000 only to come down sharply to the levels o f $1,400 in October 2000. Till end December 2000, prices remained fluctuating between $1,450-1,550 levels.

Gold gets support at lower range
AFTER moving down to $256.25 per ounce, the lowest since September 21, 1999 following selling pressure, gold managed to recover ground with good support at the level, aided by a weakening US dollar and short-covering activity. The yellow metal ended the week at $260.45/oz (London PM fix), with a gain of 1.2 per cent. Silver was, however, struggling.

Castorseed declines on poor buying support
IN a week characterised by relatively modest arrivals of castorseed in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh, prices tended to sag as expectations of buyers now seem to be focussed on lower prices. Marketmen have begun to talk about the market turning in favour of buyers.
