Feeding a party

Sudha Menon

And now, a dotcom that will not only dole out gourmet recipes but also be your companion in planning for a party and throwing it right.

www.kitchenno1.com, put together by a Pune-based team, helps you decide on the requirements, budget and the number of people you can invite to the party. It then provides a list of caterers in Pune who can man the party for you. Alternatively, it offers a comprehensive menu, along with the recipes, for those who want to delight guests with their own cooking.

The Web site's corporate meal section has solutions in the form of packed lunches, outdoor catering and canteen facilities. By tying up with several caterers and hotels, the site offers to be a meeting place for customers and suppliers.

`Pandora's box' is a resource section for hotels and restaurants on requirements ranging from management to interiors and presentation of food.

Lay-foodies also have something to chew on -- they can post favourite recipes on the site and, if they prove to be a hit, the products will be marketed and part of the proceeds credited to you!

The section on cocktails and mocktails is expected to be given a face-lift soon. ``Bar on the house is a concept where we plan to take chefs to apartment blocks and get them to demonstrate recipes in interactive sessions,'' says Girish Narasimhan, CEO, K itchenno1.com.

The site is currently operational in Pune and there are plans to extend it to Bangalore and Mumbai soon.
