HCM products -- SAP bullish on Indian market
Vishwanath Kulkarni
BANGALORE, Feb. 25
THE German software major SAP AG is bullish on the Indian market for its human capital management (HCM) solutions.
SAP, which sees a major potential in the Indian market for its already introduced HCM solutions, has acquired a customer base of over 60 major companies in less than a year.
Mr Uwe Simon, Vice-President (HCM Worldwide), SAP, said that the company was planning to add another 40 customers by the year-end and wass targeting an additional 100 companies by next year.
SAP considers India as the fastest growing market in the Asia Pacific region, as a large number of multinationals are setting up base in the country.
This was also because of the growth that the Indian companies, especially in the information technology sector, have been able to achieve in the recent years, he said.
Companies in the past had their own human resource management solutions, but were now looking for stronger solutions which can help them scale up their operations, he added.
SAP's HCM offerings include the most comprehensive global solution, with human resources (recruitment, appraisal information system etc), payroll and time management capabilities.
The concept of HCM packages is yet to develop in India and the company plans to develop this segment by creating awareness.
SAP is targeting companies which have an employee strength of 2,000 and above, mainly the large Indian companies and MNCs and IT companies.
The HCM is part of the SAP R/3 offering and is also being sold as an independent solution.
SAP's Indian subsidiary, SAP Labs India, one of the three strategic development centers for SAP worldwide, is localising the HCM solutions for the Indian market.
SAP Labs is also planning to customise and develop solutions for about 10 Asean countries.
It would also be involved in the localisation of HCM for country versions Canada and the US, Mr Simon said.
SAP Labs already has a small development team comprising of some 25-odd engineers for HCM solutions which would be scaled up by next year to over 70 developers, he added.
