Poor politics
V. A. Gopala, e-mail
Uncertainty is gripping the political arena at the national level. In the process of keeping the family-hold intact on the party affairs, the Congress(I) is losing its basis in many parts of the country. Its Uttar Pradesh unit is on the verge o
f one more split. The followers of the late Jitendra Prasada, who challenged the unique and unquestionable leadership of the Congress, are drifting to different political parties.
The situation in West Bengal is no better. The Congress MLAs are getting ready to jump into Mamata's Mahajot.
The Tamil Nadu unit of the Congress is fighting for its survival. The sudden decision of PMK to join AIADMK has upset the Congress(I) applecart in Tamil Nadu politics. On its own, the Congress has no foothold in the State. It has to align, either with DM
K or the AIADMK.
The sorry state of affairs is not confined to Congress(I). It is a common phenomenon in all the parties, including the ruling party.
