Thiru Arooran Sugars net profit at Rs 6.43 crore
CHENNAI: Thiru Arooran Sugars Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 6.43 crore on a net sales of Rs 18.86 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2001, according to a company press release.
During the same period the previous year, the company reported a net profit of Rs 8.06 crore on a net sales of Rs 32.32 crore.
However, the figures for the corresponding quarters were not comparable because the current quarter does not include cogeneration operations which had been spun off into a subsidiary company, the release said.
Interest was Rs 6.39 crore (Rs 10.36 crore) and depreciation Rs 2.48 crore (Rs 4.16 crore).
The company plans to relocate the Kollumangudi unit after the completion of the 2000-2001 crushing season. The new location would be close to Neyveli and would result in increased sugarcane availability and cheaper fuel for the cogeneration unit, company
officials said.
The sugarcane available at the present location will be processed by the company's two other sugarmills located in the delta districts. This would help improve the capacity utilisation, officials said. -- Our Bureau
