Tuticorin-Howrah rail link sought
MADURAI: The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to Mr Nitish Kumar, Union Minister for Railways, to introduce a new train from Tuticorin to Howrah, via Gondia, Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, Rourkela and Tata Nagar.
In a letter addressed to the Union Minister, Mr P.T.K. Balasubramanian, Secretary of the Chamber has pointed out that not a single train has been run from South Tamil Nadu to Howrah. A good volume of matches are being sent to these centres noted for thei
r wholesale business in all goods.
At present, manufacturers, traders and businessmen from the region find it very difficult and discomforting to change the train for these centres at Nagpur. The present train run from Chennai does not connect these places, he said. -- Our Correspondent
