Panel to boost IT sector
NEW DELHI: The Government is setting up a group with representations from the IT Ministry, the Department of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Home Affairs and Planning Commission, to work out an action plan to boost information Technology in Jammu
and Kashmir.
The National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) and Assocham are also part of the group, an official statement said here.
This was decided at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission with representatives of the two industry associations to discuss ways to give a fillip to the IT sector in the State in order to create employment opportunities for the loca
l youth.
Plans have already been drawn up to set up 20 community information centres in the State. If facility for proper training is given and micro-credit made available, it is possible to tap the interest of the youth in the state to set up `cyber-dhabas' and
IT-enabled service centres, it was felt at the meeting. -- Our Bureau
