Kodak launches Prolab in Chennai

CHENNAI, May 27

KODAK India Ltd has launched its fourth Prolab in the country in Chennai. The company's Prolabs are high-volume professional photolabs equipped with the latest high-tech digital photographic solutions.

According to Mr Suresh Iyer, Country Business Manager & Vice-President, Kodak Professional, the Prolabs will cater to the needs of professional photographers. He added that the new facility comes with a high-speed digital LED printer. The company has thr ee other such labs, one each in Mumbai, New Delhi and Indore. According to Mr Iyer, Kodak has plans for several more such outlets.

The Prolab integrates the entire print production process from scanning to printing. It offers users a wide range of applications including digital and commercial portraits, enlargements and large-format prints. It also allows users to create photographi c identity cards, visiting cards with photographs, posters and so on.

Mr Iyer said that Kodak's professional division meets the requirements of professional photographers. He said that this division had revenues of Rs 100 crore in the country was the second largest division in the country after the consumer imaging busines s.

According to Mr Thao V. Nguyen, Regional Business General Manager & Vice-President, Kodak Professional Division, Asia-Pacific Region, the professional imaging division is the company's second largest line of business after consumer imaging, international ly.

The Prolab in the city was inaugurated by Mr N. Ram, Editor, Frontline. Well known cinematographer, Mr P.C. Sriram, was also present on the occasion. Kodak India Ltd is a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak, UK, and has five lines of business including motion pi cture imaging, digital imaging and health imaging, in addition to consumer and professional imaging.
