NMDC upgraded to Schedule A status
NEW DELHI: The Government has upgraded the State-owned National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC). It will now be able to exercise more financial and executive powers following its upgradation from a Schedule B to a Schedule A company.
To obtain the Schedule A status, a PSU has to fulfill quantitative requirements in the field of investment, capital employed, net sales, profit, number of employees and units and qualitative needs like national importance, level of technology, projects f
or expansion and diversification.
NMDC reported a profit before tax (provisional) of Rs 304.75 crore during 2000-01. _ Our Bureau
