Wheat open sale prices revised yet again -- FCI reverts to zone-wise pricing scheme
BARELY a month after announcing a uniform all-India price of Rs 700 per quintal for the wheat disposed under its open market sale scheme (OMSS), the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has once again reverted to a variable, zone-wise pricing structure.

Flour mills seek wheat at Rs 650/qtl
THE Southern roller flour mills have been facing one problem after another because of the lack of a stable wheat policy. Added to their woes are the conflicting interests with the northern industry which has a better bargaining power, being clsoer to the Centre. The Souther Roller Flour Mills' Association President, Mr M.K. Dattaraj spoke to Business Line about what the southern mills expect from the Government. Excerpts:

Demand to hike bound duty on rubber import
KOCHI: The Cochin Rubber Merchants Association has asked the Union Government to raise the bound duty of rubber to 40 per cent from the present 25 per cent to prevent imports.

THE priority in the rubber plantation sector has been shifted to replanting. The Rubber Board is now organising a series of campaign meetings to lay more stress on replanting, especially among the small holding sector.
