Gen Musharraf's visit
P. M. G. Pillai, Mannar, Kerala
There have been numerous views expressed on the meeting between Gen Pervez Musharraf and Mr A. B. Vajpayee, expected to take place in July. Since the Partition and other disputes, the problems between India and Pakistan could not be resolved because both
countries have been stubborn in their views.
It is time the `Two Nation' theory propounded by Mohammed Ali Jinnah, is buried. This policy was based on religion. However, with the help of information technology, the world has become a tiny place. Considering the present socio-political and economic
changes worldwide, all nations must unite for progress and development. Religion is a secondary issue. The foremost need is to remove world poverty.
One way of achieving this is the reduction of unproductive expenses, that is, military expenses, to finance constructive development.
A clear understanding of the national issues and the elimination of poverty is required. Let bygones be bygones. A new chapter, a new relationship, must be sought.
