K.R. Srivats
NEW DELHI, July 10
THE Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) for imparting `specialised knowledge' to qualified chartered accountants on various areas of
their professional interest.
``ASCI will assist ICAI in establishing its Hyderabad Centre of Excellence. It will also continue to provide support to the centre even after its establishment in an independent location in Hyderabad'', Mr N.D. Gupta, President, ICAI, told Business Line.
Initially, ASCI will provide infrastructure facilities and also lend its faculty resources for conducting the courses for professional chartered accountants as well as corporate executives and Government managers.
Mr Gupta said that similar arrangements are being worked out with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Lucknow.
He pointed out that ICAI proposes to set up Centres of Excellence at various places in the country for providing specialised knowledge and skills in areas such as foreign exchange management, international taxation, banking, international accounting/GAAP
, energy audit, environmental management and project financing to ``new and young chartered accountants''.
