AP powerloom weavers hit by mills closure
Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, July 10
CLOSURE of four textile mills in the Kattedan industrial area here is stated to have affected the lives of over 1000 powerloom weavers in Sircilla town of Karimnagar district in the State. These weavers, who were doing job work for the mills, are now job
less on account of their closure, according to Sircilla Polyester Cloth Manufacturers Association (SPCMA).
The four mills were closed by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board on the charge that they were causing pollution in the area of their location.
Nevertheless, keeping in view the plight of weavers, the SPCMA President, Mr K. Subash, wanted the State Government to review the cases of closed units and take necessary steps for revoking the closure orders.
