I-T officers meet

NEW DELHI: Senior income tax officials are meeting to evolve a strategy for maximising revenue collection, and achieve full computerisation in the Income Tax Department by March 31, 2002.

The meeting takes place against the background of low tax collections during the last fiscal compared to the revised estimates. The conference of the Chief Commissioners and Directors General will also look at action areas for widening the income tax bas e and discuss the implementation of the effective taxpayers service in the restructured department. -- Our Bureau
