KGISL plans offshore engg design centre

COIMBATORE, July 11

KGISL, a division of the $150-million KG Group, is contemplating to kick-off an offshore engineering design centre soon.

The company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tesco Technologies Inc at Detroit in the US for engineering design services.

KGISL has deputed four engineers for training in automotive engineering designs to the US. The company is planning to send a bigger batch of 25 engineers soon, it is learnt.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr Ashok Bakthavathsalam, Director, KGISL, said that the company intended to come out with a slew of software products and other IT-enabled services, which included among others, event management services, call service manageme nt and engineering design services.

`We would like to consolidate for we have already absorbed and trained over 250 engineers', Mr Bakthavathsalam said.

KGISL had formed an alliance and invested in the equity of an US-based company for selling the former's software products in the US, he said. The ERP solutions for small and medium enterprises is being developed here and marketed in the US after checking the compatibility.
