CII council to meet in Chennai

CHENNAI, July 11
THE CII National Council, governing body of the confederation, will meet here on Friday.
According to a CII press release, the meeting will be presided over by Mr Sanjiv Goenka, President, CII.
Among those CEOs expected to attend are Mr Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto, Mr Arun Thiagarajan, President, Hewlett Packard India, Mr D.S. Brar, CEO and MD, Ranbaxy, Mr B. Muthuraman, MD Designate, Tata Steel, Mr Nimesh Kampani, Chairman, J M Morgan St
anley, Mr Y.C. Deveshwar, Chairman, ITC, Mr Adi Godrej, Chairman, Godrej Industries, Mr R. Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director, Tata Sons, Ms Anu Aga, Chairperson, Thermax, Mr Jamshyd Godrej, CMD, Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co Ltd, Mr Arun Bharat Ram, V
C and Senior MD, SRF, and Mr Rakesh Mittal, VC & MD, Bharati Teletech.
The National Council meeting will be preceded by a meeting of the Associations Council of CII, which will be bifurcated into two, viz., Services Council and Manufacturing Council, from this year.
``With the increasing role and contribution of the service sector in the Indian economy, CII has for the first time constituted a services council under the Chairmanship of the Vice-President, Mr Ashok Soota,'' the release said.
The objective of the council is to highlight the role of services in the Indian economy, develop strategies and take up issues faced by the sector.
The manufacturing council, headed by Mr Jamshyd Godrej, will concentrate on monitoring the performance of the manufacturing industry, the release said.
