EPPIC opens chapter in Bangalore

Bangalore, July 14
ENTERPRISING Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Related Industry Professionals from the Indian Subcontinent (EPPIC), the TiE equivalent for the biotech sector, has just launched its Bangalore chapter.
Coming at a time when the biotech industry in the country is on the verge of takeoff, EPPIC is expected to ``catalyse the process'', according to Ms Kiran Mazumdar, CMD, Biocon India, and an EPPIC charter member.
EPPIC was formed in 1998 in the US by Dr Bala Manian, a ``serial entrepreneur'' who has founded six biotech companies with a total market cap of over $800 million.
During his recent visit to the US, the Karnataka IT Secretary, Mr Vivek Kulkarni signed an MoU to set up an EPPIC chapter in Bangalore.
With the new chapter, Indian companies and professionals have a chance to network, encourage and support entrepreneurship, liaison with educational institutions and exchange notes on the developments in the industry.
The forum invites guest speakers from all over the world to help members discuss the latest developments in the sector.
