Vijaya Bank net up 32 pc

BANGALORE, July 14

THE public sector Vijaya Bank has notched a 32.8-per cent rise in the net profit for the first quarter of the current financial year over the corresponding period of the last financial year.

A bank release said the net profit for the quarter ended June 2001 amounted to Rs 26.36 crore (Rs 19.85 crore). The gross profit registered a growth of 22.7 per cent to Rs 43.27 crore.

The aggregate deposits was Rs 12,337 crore (Rs 11,209 crore). Gross advances improved from Rs 5,319 crore to Rs 5,869 crore. However, despite the increase in credit, the credit deposit ratio has remained constant at 48 per cent.
