Our Bureau

Mumbai, July 20

THE Chairman and Managing Director of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd, Mr. S.K. Gupta, has been elected as one of the directors on the board of Intelsat Ltd. at its meeting held at Washington on July 19.

India is the third largest investor in Intelsat, with a share of 5.4 per cent in the company, said a news release from VSNL.

The release said the two-year privatisation process of Intelsat culminated in the election of the Board of Directors of its holding company Intelsat Ltd, incorporated in Bermuda.

Intelsat provides Internet, broadcast, telephony and corporate network solutions to customers in more than 200 countries and territories through its network of 20 geostationary satellites, said the release.

It said there were eight seats available for election for nominees of the shareholders of Intelsat.
