Prannoy Roy shortlisted for PGCIL board

NEW DELHI, July 20

THE Power Ministry has shortlisted psephologist and NDTV President, Mr Prannoy Roy, for the job of non-official director, PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). There are two non-official directors on the board of the wholly-owned Government transmi ssion company.

Mr Prannoy Roy had earlier served as an Advisor in the Ministry of Finance.

The Power Ministry has mooted the candidature of Gujarat Pipavav LNG Ltd chief, Mr Nikhil Gandhi, for the second director's job.

The names have been forwarded to the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), according to PESB sources.

At present, the BSES Ltd chief, Mr R.V. Shahi, and Mr Ramesh Gupta, Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, are the non-official directors on the board of the company.

In the case of National Thermal Power Corporation, the Ministry has mooted the candidatures of Tata Energy Research Institute director, Dr R.K. Pachauri, BSES Ltd chief, Mr R.V. Shahi, and the Indian Institute of Technology (Mumbai) Director, Mr Mishra, for the posts of three non-official directors.
