14-member CII team to visit UK

NEW DELHI, July 20

THE President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr Sanjiv Goenka, is to lead a 14-member CEO delegation to the UK and Scotland.

The four-day visit which begins on July 23 will see the delegation meet with key Government department officials, Asia House members and industry chambers. During the visit the delegation is to meet with the Minister for e-commerce and Competitiveness, D epartment of Trade and Investment, Dr Douglas Alexander, and the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Region, Mr Stephen Byers. Besides, the delegation will also meet with the Chief Executive Officer of the London Stock Exchange, Mr s Clara Furse.

The chamber is also organising two seminars in partnership with Indian business and the Indian IT sector during the mission. At the seminars new opportunities to strengthen the collaboration and investment in the sector will be looked into.

The delegation includes the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Infosys Technologies, Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, the Managing Director, Tata Iron and Steel Company Ltd, Dr J.J. Irani, and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ICICI Ltd, Mr K .V. Kamath.
