Anti-dumping duty on two EU products
K.R. Srivats
NEW DELHI, July 31
THE Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on all imports of theophylline and caffeine from the European Union (EU).
Based on the findings of the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry, the Revenue Department has imposed an anti-dumping duty equivalent to the difference between $10,686 per tonne and the `landed value' of imported theophylline (including its salt
s and derivatives) per tonne.
In the case of imports of caffeine, its salts and its derivatives from the EU, the anti-dumping duty will be equivalent to the difference between $11,486 and the `landed value' of imports per tonne. For caffeine (100 per cent purity) imports from the EU,
the anti-dumping duty will be calculated as a difference between $11,486 and the `landed value' of imports per tonne.
On natural crude caffeine (with caffeine content less than 100 per cent), the Revenue Department has imposed a anti-dumping duty equivalent to the difference between $11,486 (reduced in proportion to the caffeine content) and the `landed value' of import
s per tonne.
The petition seeking anti-dumping investigations on theophylline and caffeine imports from the EU was filed by Kores (India) Ltd, Bakul Aromatics and Chemicals Ltd and Valiant Industries Limited.
