Coates of India net profit down at Rs 1.3 crore

KOLKATA: Coates of India Ltd, for the second quarter ended June 30, 2001, has recorded a drop in net profit at Rs 1.3 crore (Rs 2 crore). Net sales for the period under review, however, has increased to Rs 4.61 crore (Rs 4.29 crore).

For the year ended December 2000 (company follows the calendar year basis), Coates had recorded net sales of Rs 184.3 crore, with net profit standing at Rs 9 crore.

While interest costs have climbed slightly to Rs 1.3 crore (Rs 1.2 crore), provision for tax is lower at Rs 67 lakh (Rs 1 crore). Profit before tax is placed at Rs 2 crore (Rs 3.1 crore). -- Our Bureau
