AstraZeneca Q1 loss at Rs 99 lakh
BANGALORE: AstraZeneca Pharma India (formerly Astra-IDL Ltd) has posted a 42.69 per cent net loss for the quarter ended June 30, 2001. It showed net loss of Rs 99 lakh compared to a profit of Rs 173.96 lakh posted during the same quarter of 2000.
Net sales and income from operations fell to Rs 1,294.14 lakh from Rs 1,693.75 lakh or a dip of 23.59 per cent over the April-June 2000 quarter.
Per share basic and diluted loss was Rs 1.99 against an EPS of Rs 3.48 for the 2000 quarter and Rs 28.55 for fiscal 2000-01.
Total expenditure - including a Rs 812.76 lakh increase in stock in trade - was Rs 1,432.98 lakh, compared to Rs 1,381.7 lakh posted during April-June 2000.
As per the audited results for the 2000-01 accounting year, the company made a net profit of Rs 1427.43 lakh with a profit-before-tax of Rs 2,188.83 lakh. With a provision for taxation of Rs 850 lakh, the balance profit was Rs 1,136.27 lakh after account
ing for the net and deferred tax liability for earlier years of Rs 291.16 lakh.
Net sales and income from operations amounted to Rs 10,911.99 lakh, with a total expenditure of Rs 8,675.45 lakh. -- Our Bureau
