Lupin profit up at Rs 16.11 cr in Q1

MUMBAI: Lupin Ltd has posted an increase in net profit at Rs 16.11 crore in the first quarter ended June, 30, 2001 against Rs 2.08 crore in the corresponding period last year.

The above figures are not comparable as Lupin Laboratories merged with Lupin Chemicals early this year.

According to the company, the performance can be attributed to focussed marketing efforts in the anti-tuberculosis segment. Market share of the company in the anti-TB segment increased from 40.4 per cent to 43.4 per cent.

The company had started restructuring its business since the beginning of last financial year with a major change in its field marketing structures and strong customer focus.

Net sales were at Rs 233.09 crore (Rs 24.21 crore). -- Our Bureau
