HMT (I) bags Nigerian order

BANGALORE, Sept. 17
HMT (International) Ltd, a project implementation and trading arm of the machine tools major HMT Ltd, has been awarded a contract for a Rs 23-crore project for Nigeria Machine Tools (NMT).
The agreement for the project, awarded to HMT International by the External Affairs Ministry under the G-15 co-operation pact between India and Nigeria, was signed recently by Mr S. Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, on behalf of t
he Government and Mr N. Ramanuja, Chairman, HMT (International).
The project envisages supply of computer-controlled balancing machines and equipment, toolings required by NMT. Also, 33 engineers from NMT will undergo intensive training in various technical fields at HMT units for 118 man-months.
HMT International will depute 15 experts for 666 man hours for installation and commissioning and on-the-job training in Nigeria.
HMT (International) has implemented several prestigious projects in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Maldives, the Mauritius and several important African countries such as Ghana and Zambia.
Last year, HMT International exported tractors, watches, machine tools, premium engineering goods and projects worth nearly Rs 50 crore.
