Rubber Board venture in Tripura

KOTTAYAM: Rubber Board in collaboration with the Tribal Welfare Department of the Government of Tripura is implementing a series of block planting programmes in the tribal areas of the State.

The plantation which attains maturity will be parcelled out and handed over to the beneficiaries and they will be collectively helped to produce and market the rubber from their individual holdings.

Where compact blocks of tribal lands are not available, the tribal families in each hamlet will be helped to raise rubber plantations in their individual land holdings. This is termed as group planting system.

Along with rubber, energy plantations are also raised in as much of fringed lands as feasible for ensuring ecology improvements and availability of fuel wood to the tribal families.-- Our Bureau
