`Poor nations must study tariff reduction impact'
THE Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has underscored the need to conduct a study to determine the effect of reduction of tariffs on the domestic industries of developing countries before embarking on any further negotiatio ns on industrial tariffs at the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

Labour panel term extended to Feb 15
THE Union Government has extended the time for submitting its report to the Second National Labour Commission (SNLC) till February 15, 2002. This was stated by Dr G.S. Ram, Labour and Employment Advisor to the Union Government, here today.

Dumping duty mooted on Chinese HV ring magnets
THE Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has recommended imposition of definitive anti-dumping duty on imported hard ferrite ring magnets (HFRM) from China after a review. HFRM finds application in loudspeakers/PA system/ telecommunications and various other applications.

Indo-German trade expected to touch Rs 20,000 cr
INDO-German bilateral trade is expected to cross the 10 billion Deutsche Mark (DM) (approximately Rs 20,000 crore) level during the calendar year 2001, with the bilateral trade touching the 5 billion DM level during January-June 2001.
