SCIENTISTS who participated at the 26th Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA) convention categorically spelt the need to revamp agricultural education and reorient research in tune with the demands of the millennium.

AP falls short of foodgrain export target
ANDHRA Pradesh is unable to export even two lakh tonnes of foodgrains though it has set an export target of 20 lakh tonnes. The State is not able to meet the target in spite of producing 160 lakh tonnes of foodgrains during 2000-01 as ``we could not comp ete in the world market,'' according to the Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu.

EVEN as the global tea industry is in its maturity stage with its market growth remaining sluggish and the net unit cost realisation universally low, ``unfortunately the Indian tea industry continues to be in the growth-stage syndrome'', says a new offic ial study of the Indian Tea Board.
